I have been a graphic designer in the fashion retail industry for many years whilst also living alongside an obsession with all things 60’s-70’s, interior design and anything that sparkles/reflects.
I am particularly drawn to the 60’s and 70’s fixation with Art Nouveau and the 1920’s. psychedelic posters, typography, textile prints, the old London department store Biba, plus a love of The Beatles, Yellow Submarine which I share with my son.
I live locally on the seafront, the constant moving weather and changing light affects my paintings and design work. Clouds and rain often feature!
The paintings are based on the craft of reverse glass sign painting where enamel is painted on the back of the glass alongside 23ct gold leaf and often abalone shell – mother of pearl to create reflective surfaces that catch the light.
